Jewelry Care
Caring for our handmade jewelry is so important! Give it love and it will last you years and years!*
Brass + Bronze
Many of our pieces are made from raw brass or bronze or brass mixed with silver. When left raw these metals have the tendency to naturally patina and age over time. We love this about brass, and feel it is part of its character, but if you prefer to keep your piece in its original bright gold form, store in an airtight container or use a gentle brass/ bronze cleanser or polish when needed to bring it back to its shiny state. Steel wool also works great!
Sterling + Fine Silver
When worn regularly, silver usually will keep its bright state. If kept out for long periods of time unworn it can tarnish. You can easily rid your silver jewelry of tarnish with a polish. Of course we recommend you opt for wearing your jewelry often to naturally prevent this! Just a side tip, I've found Sunshine cleaning clothes work great.
Gold Plated
Many of our chains are Gold Plated as noted in their listings. While the pendants may be brass and you can care for those as above, please do not use cleaning clothes or polish on the chain. Follow these instructions instead.
Gold plating means a thin layer of gold is coated on top of a base metal, often times brass. It wont turn your skin like regular brass (though remember that depends on the individuals skin!) When worn when sweating, showering, etc, this plating can often time wear off. In addition, be careful with perfumes and lotions, they can discolor the plating! To prevent this we recommend that you avoid wearing it when you sweat or shower and be sure to avoid letting it come in contact with chemicals of any sort! When the piece is not being worn be sure to keep in an airtight container or your own jewelry box. As long as it's not made out of wood. Questions? Send me a message!
14k Gold
The purest of these metals, will not turn or change and can be polished with a cloth. Don't you just love that about gold?
